Parking tickets in Victoria, BC: how to pay, dispute and what they cost
Most Victoria meter, zone and curb tickets are $30 or $40 if paid within 14 days of the notice, and $60 or $80 from day 15. You can pay online by ticket number or plate, at City Hall or by mail. To dispute one, ask Parking Services for a review before you pay, because paid tickets are not reversed.

Disputing a ticket
- If you think a ticket was issued in error, ask for a review: fill out the online Parking Ticket Review Form, email parkingservices@victoria.ca with a copy of the ticket, your name and contact details and your reason, or fill out a form at the Public Service Centre on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.[1] Official page
- The form’s reasons include paying for the wrong spot or paying and still getting a ticket (proof of payment required), and residential parking as a visitor, contractor or resident (proof of residency required). You can attach up to 4 files.[4]
- Reviews can’t be made by phone, and paid tickets are not reversed. The City’s page gives no deadline for asking and doesn’t say whether a review pauses the 14-day price change, so ask Parking Services (250.361.0260) before the 14 days pass.[1]
- If you disagree with the result, ask for adjudication by contacting Parking Services. The hearing is at City Hall with a City representative and an independent adjudicator assigned by the Province of B.C., open to the public and about 15 to 30 minutes.[1]
- You can give evidence in person, by phone at a phone hearing, or through someone else. You get at least 14 calendar days’ notice, and you can request the City’s evidence package by email beforehand.[1]
- The adjudicator can’t lower the amount and only decides whether the violation happened as reported; personal circumstances aren’t considered. If the ticket is upheld, a $25 fee is added to the full price. If you can’t be reached or don’t attend, the ticket is deemed valid.[1]
Fines (Streets and Traffic Bylaw)
- Parking meter zone, limited-time zone, loading zones, taxi stand or passenger zone, angle parking or curb parking more than 30 cm out, sleeping overnight in a vehicle on a street: $30 within 14 days, $60 after.[2]
- In front of a driveway or within 1.5 m of one, within 5 m of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk or within 6 m of one, or on a highway over 72 consecutive hours: $30 within 14 days, $60 after.[2]
- No parking zone, no stopping zone, residential parking zones, safety zone, in an intersection, yellow curb, or on a sidewalk or boulevard: $40 within 14 days, $80 after.[2]
- Truck loading zone or transit zone: $50 within 14 days, $80 after.[2]
- Accessible parking and loading zones for people with disabilities: $75 within 14 days, $150 after.[2]
- Putting an object other than lawful coins into a parking meter or pay station: $175 within 14 days, $350 after.[2]
Unpaid tickets, collections and towing
- The City sends reminder letters at 45 and 60 days if a fine is unpaid. After six months, unpaid fines go to ARO, a Canadian collection agency, which may contact you by text, phone or letter.[1]
- Tickets with a “P” prefix issued before February 20, 2026 can no longer be paid online. Pay those by calling ARO Inc. at 250-869-3941 or toll free at 866-563-7673.[3]
- Scam warning: if you get a text or notice about a parking fine and aren’t sure it’s from the City, contact Parking Services at 250.361.0260 or parkingservices@victoria.ca before paying anything.[1]
- A ticketed vehicle can be towed for its ticket history, for parking on a tow route or where a permit is required, or as a safety issue, such as next to a hydrant or blocking a driveway or intersection.[1]
- Claim a towed vehicle at Always Towing, 647B Dupplin Road. Call 250.381.0110 to confirm the City towed it.[1]
- If the City towed it for outstanding tickets, you pay a $200 administration fee before release, plus towing and storage fees.[1]
