Questions and contesting a ticket
- Every ticket goes through a review, and tickets issued in obvious error are cancelled. The City suggests waiting 2 business days, then searching your ticket number to see if it still stands.[2] Official page
- To talk through your options, contact Customer Service at 306-975-2400 or 1-800-667-9944 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), at revenue@saskatoon.ca, or at the main floor of City Hall.[2]
- To contest a ticket, you go to court. A summons notice with your court date is mailed to you. If you can’t make that date, call City Hall to change it before the court date.[2]
- The City says it is your responsibility to enter your licence plate correctly when you pay, to read the signs, and to display any permit. A mistyped plate, a forgotten permit or not knowing you had to pay isn’t accepted as an excuse.[2]
- If you don’t pay the discounted amount in time but pay the full penalty before your court date, you won’t be prosecuted for that ticket.[4]
Fines (Traffic Bylaw 7200)
- Time purchased has expired in a pay station zone or ticket-controlled zone, or the ticket isn’t displayed: $60, or $35 if paid within 14 days.[4]
- Parking longer than the signs allow, more than 72 hours on a street, in a loading zone past the limit, or an unlicensed vehicle on a street: $60, or $40 if paid within 14 days.[4]
- More than 300 mm from the curb, outside the stall lines, or on a barricaded street: $60, or $40 within 14 days.[4]
- In a prohibited location or manner, on a boulevard, on private property, in front of a fire hydrant, or double parked: $60, with no discount.[4]
- Stopping in a prohibited location or manner: $110, or $60 within 14 days.[4]
- On a snow route while a declaration is in effect, or in a street maintenance area during a parking ban: $110, with no discount.[4]
- In a fire lane, or in a space reserved for people with disabilities: $210, with no discount.[4]
Unpaid tickets, collections and impound
- An unpaid ticket leads to a Notice of Pending Summons and then a summons with a court date, both sent by regular mail. If you don’t attend, a final conviction letter follows, and the City can impound your vehicle with no further notice.[3]
- Since June 1, 2026 the City has authorized Action Collections and Receivables Management (1-877-576-1092) to collect unpaid parking fines, with a focus on out-of-town residents. Unpaid fines may lead to seizure and impoundment without notice.[1]
- The City can tow vehicles that are unregistered, have unpaid parking fines, or are parked in violation of the Traffic Bylaw. Vehicles blocking street sweeping or a snow route are moved to a nearby street.[3]
- Reclaim a seized vehicle at the Impound Lot, 150 Jonathon Avenue (306-657-8526): Monday to Friday 11 a.m.–7 p.m., Saturday 12–4 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays. Bring ID, the vehicle registration, and payment of all fines and fees.[3]
- Impound costs: the tow itself (actual cost, $100–$200), an impound fee of $77, an administration fee of $50, and $20 a day for storage. The lot takes cards and debit, not cash.[3]
- A vehicle not claimed within 30 days may be sold at auction or scrapped, and the money applied to costs and the ticket balance.[3]
