Privacy Policy
Prepared for Canadian users under PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25.
Last updated: July 24, 2026
1. Who We Are
Parkeas ("we", "us") operates a peer-to-peer parking marketplace across Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have under Canadian privacy law.
2. Information We Collect
Identity and contact information (name, email, Canadian phone number, postal code, province), vehicle details, booking history, payment metadata (never full card numbers — those go directly to our PCI-compliant processor), device information, and, where enabled, location data used to find nearby parking. Hosts may provide identity documents for verification.
3. Why We Use It
To create your account, deliver bookings, calculate the correct GST/HST/PST/QST at checkout, provide receipts, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and — with your consent — send you helpful updates about the service.
4. Legal Basis & Consent
We rely on consent, contract performance, and legitimate business interests as permitted by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector ("Law 25"). You may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
5. Sharing
We share the minimum information necessary with: Hosts (driver first name and vehicle for active bookings), payment processors, identity-verification providers, cloud infrastructure vendors, and law enforcement when legally compelled. We do not sell your personal information.
6. Cross-Border Transfers
Some of our service providers may store or process data outside Canada, including the United States. When they do, data is protected by contractual safeguards. It may become subject to lawful access requests in that jurisdiction. See our Cookies Policy for related tracking details.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure — please protect your password and enable notifications for account activity.
8. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described here, or as required by Canadian tax and record-keeping laws (typically up to 7 years for financial records). Deletion requests are honoured for information not subject to a legal hold.
9. Your Rights
You may access, correct, port, or delete your personal information, withdraw marketing consent at any time, and, if in Quebec, request that automated decisions be reviewed by a human. Submit requests through the Help Centre; we respond within 30 days as required by law.
10. Privacy Officer & Complaints
Our Privacy Officer handles all requests and complaints. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (cai.gouv.qc.ca).
11. Children
Parkeas is not intended for individuals under the age of majority in their province or territory. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
12. Changes
We will notify you of material changes in-app or by email at least 15 days before they take effect.
13. Contact
Reach the Privacy Officer through the Help Centre or by opening a support ticket in your Parkeas account.
